Imelda, I have one but I can't access my recipes. Maybe jimmy would be kind enough to print it off his files since I know he had it. It's called Grandma Lipski's Sloppy Joes. From a good friend of mine years ago.

Or, maybe jimmy lost that recipe when his system crashed....hmmmm, don't know.

I know there is onion and celery, tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce....hmmmm, other stuff, too. Unfortunately I don't know the amounts....

Maybe my daughter can copy it and post it....I'll give her a call.

Here you go, Mom.

Grandma Lipski's Sloppy Joes

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/4 c. chopped celery
1/4 c. ketchup
1 - 8oz. can tomato sauce
1 T. vinegar
1 T. sugar
1-1/2 t. Worcestershire sauce
1 t. salt
1/4 t. pepper

Brown ground beef.  Add chopped onion and celery; cook until tender (about 5 minutes).  Drain off excess fat.  Add the remaining ingredients; mix well.  Cover and simmer 20 minutes.

Thanks. Andrea.

Imelda- I know I use brown sugar instead of white. And if its too sloppy just let it simmer to reduce and thicken.

This is a nice simple recipe so I snagged it, too. I like the red bells and chopped tomato that Imelda added too. I have those smoked red bells that would add a nice flavor -- mmm!

Yes, Crybaby, toe recipe is one of those "pantry basic" recipes that doesn't require a lot of special ingredients....and it's so simple you can easily add to it for personal preference as Imelda did. I always like the addition of lots of celery so I'll often double the amount shown.

I'm going to do a sloppy joe wrap in a flour tortilla next time I'm out of buns...I've used hot dog buns before, the buttered and grilled kind and loved that...but, like a sprinkle of bacon, how could a toasted buttered bun detract from the appeal? LOL
