Breakfast was light for a change. Good old buttered Toast, & Tea!.....

Company coming for breakfast tomorrow. Basic bacon, eggs, home fries will be there, but I will bake a batch of gluten free biscuits, as one guest has celiac disease.

I miss making B&B breakfasts, so this is great. It's my uncle who just moved back to my area after 30 years further away, and his son. Uncle Ernie always liked to go out for breakfast when he visited, so today I'm making it. I have bagels, cream cheese and smoked salmon also. More like a brunch, really. No mimosas, though.

I have been skipping breakfasts for the last several months in a effort to lose weight. When I do have toast and eggs or something like breakfast, it's at lunch time. I've lost about 20 pounds so far.

I hate you.....

((just kidding ! I could NEVER hate you!))

It has been a lot of work and not always successful. It goes up and down, thankfully more down than up and it seems like I have been at it for half a year or more.

Whatever works for you! I lost 30 pounds last winter on a very restrictive diet. But it also worked. I have been backsliding, gained 3 back, so starting tomorrow, I am going back on that wagon. It is so easy to go back to old habits.

The good thing is you're keeping at it, Norm. Congratulations on what you've achieved so far.

I have not been on any structured diet. I think my system is called starvation.

When we were younger, Dane would decide he needed to lose 10 pounds because his belt was getting snug. He'd cut back on drinking beer and would be down 10 - 12 pounds within a week.

I didn't like him much then, either.......

LOL

Yeah. Older men can't lose weight like they used to when they were younger... at least I can't.

We too, tried to skip breakfast and have our brunch after 11, it has been a long while I did not cook proper breakfast for Dirk, as I usually eat granola in the morning.. today I decided to cook some instant hash brown in the box with frozen corned beef I found in my freezer, I sauteed them with chopped onions, green beans, jalapeno, green onion, I was going to make omelet with them, then I remember I have this small microwave steamer I bought at a dollar store, so instead of frying the omelet, I mixed my sauteed hash brown with beaten eggs + a bit of milk, I added a handful of mozzarella cheese and steamed them in microwave for 3 minutes

the mini egg/veggie steamer

Welcome Home, Imelda! It's good to have you back.

And what a clever girl you are! Turning all those ingredients into such an impressive brunch. Well Done!

That looks like one Charlie has and uses on eggs.

Trust me, Norm, that's true for women as well. By the way, you do look a lot slimmer in your new avatar. It's kind of dark though -- I'm used to seeing you in brighter light.

I remember when I was younger and planning to wear a fitted dress at an upcoming occasion. Wanting my stomach to look very flat in the dress, all I would do is skip lunch for a week and cut out drinking milk (I used to drink a lot of milk -- love it but it's not slimming). Not only would I have a flat stomach, but I'd usually lose almost 10 lbs! Ten pounds in a week with relatively no effort -- those days are long gone...

Imelda, it's so nice to see you back. I hope you enjoyed your visit with family and I hope they're all doing well. I know they must've hated seeing you leave but we're glad to have you and your yummy-looking food photos back!

Ha Ha Ha .... I have to laugh. Downstairs in the empty bedroom that will soon become a Media Room, there is a ( one of those cheap mirrors from WalMart ) mirror, that is on the door.
It is our favorite mirror, because when you look at yourself full length, It shows you as really thin.
I mean, it knocks off at least 40 pounds off any ones figure! .......
It is so weird looking at myself thinner than I had ever been.
Then, I come upstairs, and look at myself in the bedroom mirror, and laugh ! OMG it is so funny!

I mentioned it to Tina, and she said Boldly, "Y E S, I have looked at that stupid mirror downstairs.
It's pathetic. and to just think, I am the only Chubby Bulimic Around!!" LOL

It's a Bxxch losing even a pound when at my age.

Another thing.....TV doesn't help! All they show is Food & eating. And then the next ad they show, is diabetic medicine, or heart drugs; along with arthritic pain drugs. LOL

So to get back to the thread.....I made 2 eggs over easy, and two slices of whole wheat toast.
Coffee and NO dessert.

You got that mirror at WalMart, you say????

Gotta go check 'em out!

((I'd love to glance in a mirror and not see my mom's shape......))

Breakfast was a Heart Attack sandwich. = egg whites Taylor ham, and a slice of cheese on an toasted English muffin. .....That was my morning slap in the face from Tina's Peanut Gallery.

OK....so now I fight fire with fire. I think I will pass on the stuffed shells for supper, and just have a salad. I wouldn't want to eat Heart attack cheese at this stage of the game.

Thanksgiving dinner, I can pass on the turkey gravy and my favorite diabetic candied sweet potatoes too! ..... Maybe I will pass on the pumpkin pie too! Too much sugar / sweet for for me.

Oh well! ..... Maybe the doctors in this family are right. I gave myself congestive heart failure because I ate too many egg whites lately. LOL

Jimmy....you can eat that stuff. Just in moderation.

But, I, too, take a pass on the candied sweet potatoes. Man, they just make my teeth hurt looking at the dish! I'll take mine just roasted, thank you very much.

But that pumpkin pie slice is going to be on MY plate. Instead of using the large can of pumpkin I only bought a 14 oz. can. Just one pumpkin pie this year instead of my usual three. But I am going to make an Apple Crostata just in case anyone prefers it. I mean, I'm trying to be a good hostess....

Mrs. Callender is making my pumpkin pie this year.

Here was the second attempt. Came out OK.
