Boy, Tina sure has been getting the short end of the stick lately. I sure hope her issues decide to move on to someone else.....on the next block or in the next state ~ NOT anyone else in your house!

Today we had our Memorial Day Cook-Out. Cheryle made a cucumber/onion/tomato salad to go with my grilled ribs. We also made zucchini & onion kebobs and a 'salad kit' of kale & broccoli slaw from Sam's Club ($2.59 for a salad packed with a bunch of 'stuff'). For once we didn't have a bunch of leftovers....a few, but it's not like we'll have to eat the same stuff for days.

Everything was good and, like I said, not too much. OH, I almost forgot. We also had some grilled kalmata olive bread because we saw it at Fresh Market today and couldn't resist. It's like a treat to have .

NormM wrote:I had to look up beef brisket ribs.  I had not heard of them before. I guess they are the same thing as beef plate short ribs.  And I have never heard of placing a liquid at that end of the smoker either. An actual brisket has a fat cap that doesn't need basting or spritzing.

The program was the Steven Raichen (sp??) smoking program on PBS. And yes, his beef brisket ribs DID look exactly like whole Korean Beef Ribs.....a hunk of meat on the large, wide rib bones.

Last year Aaron Franklin wrote a book about BBQ. It isn't a recipe book but about his approach to BBQ. It's kind of an attitude about cooking with a smoker. Several guys at Egullet were discussing it and the show he had last season on PBS. Everyone seemed to enjoy it.  Then someone saw Steven Raichlen's show and he made a comment about it under a section called "Worst Cooking Shows Ever" Several others agreed. Mad Hunky hated him too.  I guess a lot of smokers think of him as having sold out too much.

Ate supper early today. Steaks and bread with butter!
I sat down, and devoured two steaks like "Cro Magnon man!"....LOL....
Started with the fork and knife; but 1 minute into the eating with manners, I grabbed the meat,
with my hands and fingers, and let the teeth find the nibbles of delicious chewing morsels get past my throat. No, Tina was in the other room and did not see me eat.

We had strawberry shortcakes for dessert.

We took Cheryle out for a big brunch before her drive back home so supper was catch-as-you-can.

I had the last of the ribs and the salad and he made a meatloaf sandwich.

Surely a great looking couple Beth!
God bless them. Have they picked a day yet for the Wedding?

I had to work backward checking the posts; because with all the Dr stuff, and housework and assisting Tina with her injury and post concussive syndrome of those darn shingles. She is able to at least get some sleep with the Lyrica drug, thank God.

Thanks, Jimmy. Last I heard the date is around the 7th of October....don't have any idea why she wouldn't have picked the 8th...her birthday.

What's for supper? I didn't have a clue. I opened the freezer and saw some chicken thighs.....Hmmmm, grill them, I guess. I used the ear and a half of leftover grilled corn to make some succotash and just made a small dish of parsley noodles. Our neighbors gave us a few tomatoes from their courtyard garden so I figured that would do as a salad.....

I had a pastrami on rye with hot mustard. Peanut butter Kandy Kakes. I had a glass of milk, with Hershey's Chocolate syrup added.

Tina had plain mashed potatoes ( container of Bob Evans Mashed ) She likes them the best for a quick make. Her dessert is...... Just made, pop corn. The whole house smells like the movie theater.

I got up out of bed this morning and the next thing I know I am flat on the ground. Woke up with a dose of vertigo this morning. As a preventative, I took one of my anti-nausea pills. I am still dizzy and have a headache. I don't dare touch food until this is over. Tonight will be easy: spaghetti. Joe can cook it if I am still wobbly on my pins. Garlic cheese toast to go with it.

I get notifications of new cookbook releases. There is a new smoker book called "Praise The Lard". That had me giggling.

Oh, Man....I've had vertigo just once in my life and it was once too often as far as I'm concerned.

Hope you're feelin' steady soon.

I was just getting started on my guacamole for supper and reached into the cabinet for one of my mixing bowls when it slipped from my fingers and just lightly tapped the one below it.

I sent this pic to DD#1 because she says the set of 4 pyrex mixing bowls are HERS! I apologized. What a clumsy Mom!

So, even though I was upset about the loss of one of my favorite bowls, I pressed on and made supper anyway......Taco Night:

Ooops! .... They are great bowls.  We had them, or maybe Have them; just packed away someplace.... LOL
Your tacos look good. We will be having them soon; because I see the soft shells in the fridge.

Tonight, we had sloppy joe's. Tina had her mashed potatoes with hers.
Ice cream sandwiches for dessert...

Supper tonight was sausage and peppers and onions. Just juices and oils, and no tomatoes. .....
So....now comes tomorrow. ? What to cook for tomorrow??
I just found out, DD brought over a lb. of fresh ground beef from the butcher shop.
