My nephews

I have a set of twin boy nephews. They have both just graduated from college. One wants to join the Navy and become a Seal and the other is into films and movie making. So while the boys have been out of school and looking for work and the other working to get in shape, they manage to find unusual things to do. Michael is a ham and the one interested in film making. I don't know where he saw the ad or what, but he saw that there is a movie being made nearby starring Nicolas Cage that needs extras. So, he goes to the casting call and actually gets a job with speaking lines. He is playing a white juvenile delinquent or something who has a run-in with some black delinquents. The director has him ad-lib ghetto speak and Michael is such a ham he can really do it well. The director told him he was good and that he was going to get paid for his speaking parts in addition to his extra pay. He also can get into the SAG card. Only Michael could pull this off. He also saw an ad for a new reality show on A&E about training to be a policeman. Michael and his twin applied to the show and actually got a call from the producer. Monday they are going to have a Skype interview. I don't know if anything will come from it but I say "Run with it" while you still can before you get tied down to the real world.

What a cool story, Debbie! Good for Michael -- you have to be brave to do that but it sure paid off. They film tons of movies in N.O. (I think I've mentioned how many do scenes in our neighborhood). A SAG card is worth its weight in gold, too.
As he gets to know the people on set, he can mention his interest in film making.

I hope the two of them get on the reality show as well. You're right, this is definitely the time of their life to do things like this. Lots of fun, very exciting and may lead to something career-wise for Michael.

How neat! I heard it was really difficult to get the SAG card....many just get the 'extra' roles and never in the union.
