Just going to three groceries is tiring enough but getting the meat ready for the freezer when you get home is killer. We often leave that to the next day and, luckily, Brian will usually do it for me. Like you, I'm spoiled, too!

I'm hurting today as I had a doctor's appointment yesterday at the huge complex that is Ochsner Hospital and Clinic out in Jefferson. Normally, I check in, then go to the lab for the blood draw my doctor requires (they process it and send results via computer to her prior to my appointment an hour or so later). But I got a call on Thursday confirming an appointment to get a Nuclear Lung Scan, which, of course, no one had told me about before, which appointment was squeezed in between the blood work and my cardiologist. The only problem was that the office to get it done in seemed to be buried in the bowels of the hospital; we walked, and walked and did more walking to get there. Brian made me laugh, as he said for them to put the office that deep into the back of the hospital, that the test must really hurt and the office placement is thus so others can't hear the screaming!!! Then, I found out I had to lay prone on my back while sliding in and out of this machine -- if you have broken vertebrae, the worst possible place to be is to be laying flat on your back. Thank goodness, I breathed the gas into my lungs deeply enough during the first "leg" of the test, so the part on my back went quicker than normal, or so said the lady doing the test.

We were both exhausted when we got home and, luckily, we had leftover Chinese food so we didn't have to cook. We ate an early dinner, had some ice cream and then called it an evening. I had a hard time getting comfortable and sleeping last night and this morning I was really in a lot of pain. I kept wondering why I hurt so badly and then I remembered all that walking we had to do! I'm really paying the price today. Would love to stay in bed all day but I know I'll eventually feel better if I get up and move around, even though it hurts so much in the beginning.

I hate going to the doc....never seems to be a good time. I give you credit for tolerating the pain ~ I'm such a wimp. I know there's not much choice to the matter but I'd be crying and whining about the entire procedure.

Oh! I feel your pain Michelle, and Brian.
I'm like you Beth, when it comes to the test people thinking I can jump on and off the table like a 25 year old in good health. I can't jump off the table, and start walking right away. I have to sit up and wait for at least 30 seconds before I can walk. They don't think so. She ( the nurse / tech ) was looking at me like....duhhh! over here Mr. Sicko! .... Eyes rolled back!!!... waiting impatiently for me to walk like an Egyptian. Or whatever.....

Like just recently, the eye surgery.... the overnight fasting, and the morning prep with the 3 different eye drops. My surgery was at 8:30 AM .....so that meant leaving for the 47 minute ride to be on time. Stress alone!!.... Then, In my case, I have to get up at least 3 or more hours earlier, because I have to be sure when nature calls, I'm not happy, riding in the car and seeing coffee signs, and doughnuts and breakfast reminders, and there I am ..... all blocked and anal retentive because I had not had that coffee to start the nature process...... PLUS.... I'm all stressed, and that doesn't help!

OK... so I survive.... half drousy, and after all the b/s....we are on the way home. Poor Tina, she knows I hadn't had anything to eat, so she says, "How bout a nice coffee and a doughnut from Dunkin Doughnuts there hon?"...... I'm like, "NOooooo! just please drive me home pullllease...!"
I get home, and I just make it to the bathroom. Ohhhh! Thank God!

Now, its all over. I need to see the Dr one more time, and that's Wednesday. Then I guess he checks my vision and orders glasses if needed. I see better now with no haze and fog, but it's not 100%
Plus I have Lazy Eye in the right eye! It wanders in and out. I Don't know, all I know, is it's an eye / brain connection thing.

But, true, getting back to topic. It can be a lot of stress; no matter how small the procedure or visit entails. The body sometimes reacts differently in some people.

Feel Better Michelle.

I hate doctors, dentists and tests. I get so upset that I have to take tranquilizers or I start throwing up. It sucks when your body starts failing you.
Just out of curiosity about your PH: did you ever at any time take FEN-FEN or any other diet pill? Those things were known to cause PH in people.

I hear you about hating the procedures and the Boring waiting and waiting.
And the differences in in prepping for emptying the bowels for say, a colonoscopy.
Tina's Dr...gave her a small bottle of stuff to drink 8 hours before, and 4 ducolax. With me, they made me drink a whole gallon of that salty chit.
I wasn't the bad taste, it was so much.

Then, with all the records on the internet, they still have you fill out silly chit on like 4 pages; like ie Who in your family died, and of what?
I fill in ( obesity lung cancer, and heart failure ) What difference does it make?? They are dead, and I'm next.....so what!!!

Nope, never did. I did have sarcoidosis, though, which they think might have caused it. They're not really sure about my PH and what caused it.

I started a new oral PH drug last week to go along with my 24/7 IV med. I'm doing well but my cardiologist said they usually have PH patients on three or so drugs. They're tiny pills (yeahhh!!!) and I take them once a day. Another price buster, as the "co-pay" usually runs almost $1600/month. I literally laughed out loud, and told the woman with the drug company that I don't have a co-pay policy but rather a maximum out of pocket policy. I just turned 63 in September and I'm already worried about when I turn 65 and have to go on Medicare, and how much will I end up having to pay for my share of the two drugs I take. I guess I should be worrying about whether I'll still be alive but money talks, you know? Oh, well, I won't waste time worrying about things until they get here, as it does no good at all...

Speaking of drugs, I don't know if any of you have seen the ads on TV (and pop-ups) about GoodRx. They claim to be able to find you lower prices in your area for prescription drugs. Brian has to take Niacin and his cardiologist doesn't like the cheaper alternative so it costs him $90 every month. I decided to give GoodRx a try and all I had to do was print out a "coupon" for Brian to take to the WalMart about 10 minutes away from us and he got the drug for $43 instead of $90 -- that's a BIG difference, no? We'll save almost $600 a year and though we hate WalMart, it's a small price to pay to just go there to pick up a Rx once a month.

I thought I'd tell you guys in case some of you would like to try GoodRx....

So far the 3 scripts I have are covered 100% by my insurance.....Don't care to be on anything else, either.

I also tried Goodrx and also had my bill reduced by $35 which helped because the drug was $270.

I take a drug for blood pressure, and because it has a added water pill ( diuretic ) built / mixed into it, Medicare won't pay for the whole thing. I pay like 48.00 for 90 pills.
Yet....Tina uses the same drug ( VALSARTEN ), without the diuretic, and she pays 160.00 for the 90 pills..

I can't complain, 80% to 100% is covered on my secondary plan, but the clicker here is, If Medicare won't pay for it, then the secondary won't either.

I think that the way Medicare and SS are set up that they hope you WILL die and won't cost any the gov't any more.

I and a lot of people I know, agree the same too!

I know one thing.... dad died at 62 and mom got sick before retirement age of 65. They didn't get to use a grains worth what they paid into it.
So what I feel, is the Medicare they paid into, and didn't use, should go to help me now! Evil or Very Mad

I forgot to mention.... When Medicare sends the monthly reports as to what was covered, and all the B/S explanations, is mind boggling,
I know I need a nurse, a doctor, and a medical billing expert to explain some of the Malarkey.
I'll bet what we pay into medicare, pays for an overabundant amount of people ( employees ) like to the tune of 89% of wasted energy. To put it bluntly, it's like the one man digging with the shovel; while the other 5 stand by and watch! And they all get paid the same.
