We survived our first 'hurricane', albeit a very MINOR one, since we moved to Florida. The majority of the winds started after 9 p.m. and were much decreased by 7 a.m. ~ suffice it to say we slept through most of the storm.

I checked the rain gauge this morning and it only caught a little over 1 1/2" of rain, very minor by our usual rain storm standards. I've seen it rain more than 5" in a few hours here before. Of course, we could have had more than that amount of rain but it just blew sideways instead of down.

The only 'casualty' of the winds that I've noticed is our Angel Trumpet plant ~ yesterday it was in FULL BLOOM. This morning most of the flowers are littered around the yard. But it's a stubborn plant, it'll send out new blooms and be beautiful again soon!

Not bad at all!  I wanted to wish you the best prior to the storm's arrival, but I didn't want to jinx you!!  But I was glad that Dane arrived home earlier in the week just in case that puppy got stronger and turned ugly.  I hope that's the worst you ever have to go through with a hurricane, Beth.

Brian and I are awaiting installation of our whole house generator, which has arrived in town from the manufacturer (Generac).  They should be calling me soon to arrange for its installation.  We'll feel a lot better knowing we NEVER have to deal with having no power again, especially during a hurricane -- no need for multiple ice chests full of ice, no chance of losing all the food in your fridge, and my personal favorite, no sweating without our central air conditioners!  It will be nice to have television during a storm, too, as it gets difficult to pass the time when you're nervous.  Brian and I always stay through any storm so it will be lovely to have the normal comforts of home while we ride out a hurricane.  Assuming cable will stay on the air, I should have WIFI as well!

Glad it was such a shoo-shoo for you guys!

Yeah, I'm grateful for small favors. I have no desire to ever find out what a real hurricane is like.

I sure don't wish it on you but it would be nice having Handy Andy (Dane) there to temporarily jury rig stuff if needed (like a broken window or shutter or something)... Plus it would be too scary to be alone!

Beth, I thank God that you weren't harmed by the storm.
I get scared enough when it storms here.
Hope your tree is back in full bloom soon.
