That looks very refreshing.  I just finished my Yukon Gold potato salad and freshly caught Lake Erie Perch. OOOOPs, Lake Erie bass, not perch.  It was yummy!

Here, I enjoy some SUDs with my hot dog......

Corn on the cob .... Tina made a small potato salad,
and Chicken thighs that Tina braised, but were tough.  tongue  tongue
She demanded I through them to the animals.  tongue  tongue

We ate there too. I forget the name. We sat outside looking over this huge field that went right up to the water. Froze my butt solid. The next year we went up again and this time I brought long underwear and a down jacket.

I'm super stressed tonight.  I have to turn myself in for a 'sleep study'.....hooked up to a zillion wires to check my vital signs......

                      "zap" !!!!!!!

I know in my head it's no big deal.  Billions of people do this to find out if they have sleep apnea.  But I HATE doctors and tests ~ it's just not my idea of a fun time.

I know I'll be fine.  But I don't want to wait the 2 weeks for the results and then continue when they decide I need a c-pap machine to sleep at night.

Oh, don't get me wrong......I'd love to go to bed and actually sleep.  I just don't think I can sleep with a mask over my face.  My claustrophobia makes me a nervous wreck even thinking about it.  What can I say?  It's one of my best phobias and I've really perfected it!

But, I'll go.  I'll let them wire me up.  I'll go to sleep and probably die in the night........

Oh Beth,
Good luck on the sleep test.
Each time I mention that I do not sleep well, One of my doctors is slowly insisting that I have one done.

I do not not want to because of the same reasons you have stated.
I cannot sleep in a different bed, never mind having those wires and stuff hooked up to me. I know I would flunk it.

I also cannot sleep with a c-pap mask on.

My cousin had it done, and does have the mask. He said it has made a big difference. Somehow, he is not being weaned off of it.

I do snore something terrible! I never realized it, until I repeatedly woke myself up, this past May. It was also during allergy season season along when I had an additional cold.

Good Luck!!!

Norm, I think the name of the restaurant is "Hog's End".

I did have lunch there, many years ago.

I loved the coastal route....

Carmel is beautiful, and Monterey. A lot of it reminded me of my local Rockport, MA....and Gloucester... boats, artsy, etc.

I'm home and I survived the sleep study.....what a PITA!

I don't know what the results are ~ won't know for two or three weeks when some doc reviews all the tests that were done.  I don't think I slept much at all.  But who knows?  I tried to stay as quiet as possible just to get to morning.  The most difficult was being told I needed to stay on my back all night....that and all the wires.  About 1:00 a.m. they came in and put a mask on me to ease my breathing.  That wasn't exactly a treat!  But I'm sure there would have to be some 'fine tuning' if it's decided that would help me.

Now it's just wait and see.

My regular eye dr. sent me to a specialist at KU. He suggested I have a sleep study. I hope no one follows up on that.

Probably the strangest feeling during the test was knowing someone was 'watching' me....a camera with night vision recording my movements, etc. I was tempted to do something rude but figured if I did they might not let me leave in the morning!

I did think if I don't need a c-pap machine for nighttime breathing it would be great to have as a 'personal fan'.....blows a lot of cool air. I could just place it so it cooled down my bed sheets all night long! LOL

Good to hear your test is over Beth! Did they give you a copy DVD of your sleep episode? LOL That way, when the grand kids come over, and they are bored, you can say,"Come on kids, put yer P J's On. We're gonna watch the Grandma sleep DVD!"
Seriously, I know I would ask for a copy of the test DVD.
When they did the brain scan when I had the mini-stroke, they gave me a copy DVD of my test.

Tina says,"Who the heck were YOU arguing with last night?" Geeze!

My one daughter-in-law says that she's sleeping with Darth Vader since Michael has the mask.  I thought that sleep apnea was generally a weight/age thing.  Michael was only about 43 and definitely not overweight when he got the c-pap.

Roomie has a sleep disorder. Hers appeared after her bout with CMV. It includes narcolepsy. What she did was walk and drive when she was technically asleep. What clued her in was when she woke up one morning to find Taco Bell wrappers all over the place. She went to a sleep doctor and found the narcolepsy. She also is unable to fall into REM sleep for at least 6 hours. She also eats in her sleep. She will sleep walk and raid the fridge or try and eat her ear plugs. One night she woke up chewing on her blanket. She is on a whole slew of meds now which has brought most of the issues under control. The biggest problem now is that her wake/sleep hours are reversed and she also must have at least 12 hours of sleep.

I think in my case it's genetic....Both my parents snored and, I'm sure, had sleep apnea. Of course, neither of them was ever tested for it. In our family, we all have soft areas in our throats and when we relax to sleep the throat closes up causing a gasping for air. Both my brothers have the same problem.

I was surprised that the machine I was on last night was not loud at all. I thought it would be more like a 'white noise' sound. This was so quiet I was able to hear the television without raising the sound level. The variety of appliances to fit different faces is quite extensive so we'll see (if I actually get diagnosed with apnea) what works best. But, like I mentioned earlier....I think a much better use of that machine would be to be 'the elderly woman's night time cooling fan'. LOL

We went out for brunch this morning so I knew I didn't have to make a huge supper. There's a franchise restaurant, 'First Watch', near us that has really good food. It's the only restaurant I know of that does not utilize a deep fryer ~ no French fries or 'homemade' chips. Mr. Amazing had a turkey burger and a bowl of tomato basil soup....said it was really good, especially since he's never wanted to try something as healthy as ground turkey burger before. I had a kale salad (MMMMMmmmm, good) with chicken, dried cranberries and slivered almonds, very lightly dressed in a semi-sweet dressing. I'd definitely order it again......but you all know how I feel about kale. LOL

When I got ready to fix supper, I had 3/4 head of cabbage that I didn't want to end up tossing so, what better than a big cast iron skillet of haluski. I only had parts of packages of meats in the freezer so I ended up using a couple Johnsonville smoked beef brats and about 1/4 slice of ham....glad those got used up, too. A sliced onion and a shredded carrot completed the dish.....oh, I forgot, I had 1/3 pkg. of egg noodles so they got cooked and mixed in to brown up just a bit at the end of cooking.

We'll both probably wonder 'why' we ate a bunch of fried cabbage about 2:00 a.m., but it was pretty tasty just now. LOL

We had the son and DIL over for Chinese take out tonight.
I had 2 egg rolls and some pork fried rice.
The kids went home; I took a kat nap.... It is freezing in this house. Tina has it down to 70 degrees in here!

Clever dish, Barb....sausage & cabbage.

Wonder why I've never thought of that. Hahahahahaha ~ great minds and all.

Your skillet bread looks good. Reminds me of a focaccia. Thanks for posting the recipe in the breads section!

Jimmy, it's just one of those 'ladies need it cool' sort of nights. This too shall pass...........

Chinese carryout sounds good to me. It's been ages since I've had an order of Moo Shu Pork.
