I have done it all ways.

soaked
not soaked

husks off
husks on

I have even wrapped it in foil.

I like it soaked then leave the husks on.it doesn't get burned or the kernals get dried out & over done.

I husk it and then put it on the grill for a few minutes on each side... just until it gets a slightly more yellow color and some char marks on it.

Since Cassie does not like corn on the cob, I often then cut it off, add a little honey, salt, cream or milk and butter and heat it through.  Several people have told me it's the best corn they ever had.

When the corn is truly fresh from the field I don't bother with the soaking, there's enough moisture in the husks if its fresh. I DO like it to get charred but that's difficult to do when there is a bunch of fresh husk. I've got special rubberized gloves to pull the husks off so I don't burn my fingers.

We won't start getting the good homegrown corn from the farm stands until late July or early August, but, as it is everywhere, the local grown is always the best tasting.

Lets see...casing hot dogs, sweet corn on the grill, tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden.....is there a better meal anyone can think of?
