I never use to enjoy watching Martha Stewart on TV. She seemed to be 'above' home cooks and was rather condesending in her choice of terms and phrases.
But I recently watched a couple of shows on PBS of 'new-to-me' episodes. What a change, I thought. The tone of the shows was much more 'teaching' and much less 'watch-how-good-I-am'. I really enjoyed both Martha Bakes and Martha's Cooking School programs. She interjected a number of interesting facts about the ingredients used and most of the ingredients were easily found in most grocery stores or farmers' markets.
In the most recent 'Martha Bakes' episode I watched, Martha made Thyme Crackers and a really interesting vegetable flatbread (Julie's Flatbread) - both of which looked easy to make and very tasty. I've printed off both recipes to stick in the cupboard to try one of these days.
