The first time I saw that recipe it was 'My Man Jacques'....he said it was something his mother made when he was young. He put small, new potatoes in a heavy pot with a bit of olive oil, s&p and just a tiny bit of water. Added the lid and let them stew in their own juices until tender. Then he smashed them with a water glass and allowed them to brown on both sides, seasoned again & added some herbs.

I've been making them like that. Good stuff.

How did you get your shrimp to get browned and crispy?

My DH started drooling over your pics. He loves seafood especially the crispy charred type.

Beth! didn't you see me outside looking at those crabs throgh the window with my bib on, and nitrile gloves.   hahahahahahaa

Just had a salad tonight, then the kids came to show us pics of their California vacation.
They had such a great time, they are going back there again.
They went to San Diego and went on a tour of the Midway Aircraft Carrier. Then a trip to the San Diego Zoo. Loved it!!
Son Jim said, the weather was so nice, he didn't even break out a sweat.

So then we had these corn dogs that you pop in the microwave for two minutes. I found a new snack. They are so good. Yummy!

Picture Perfect, Barb! Makes me feel bad that I didn't do a salad with mine.

Oh, yeah ~~~ a salad wouldn't have fit on my plate unless I would have moved that bowl of BUTTER!!!

Hahahahahaha

I looked at the king crab, but, for the price difference and the fact that the last time I cooked it I didn't get the shells cracked all the way...I ended up seriously ripping up my hands trying to get into that meat. The snow crab was relatively inexpensive (2 small clusters for $4.70) so I figured it was worth the splurge.

What I really like is how quick it heats and your meal is ready. I usually only pull one cluster at a time out of the pan and leave the other one under the lid to keep it hot.

Bet you were 'packin' it in like chewing tobacco! LOL

I can remember, as a little girl, my Grandma would give me a little bag of shredded coconut and send me outside. I'd put it in my cheek like all the farm workers did with their chewing tobacco and then I'd pretend that's what I had and I'd practice 'spitting'. Hence, the reason Grandma sent me outside with my coconut!

Jimmy, I have been dying to go to the San Diego zoo wild animal park and give their zip line a try. Trouble is these attractions are only for the well-off. The ride costs $150 and that doesn't include the park fees.

Yesterday I stopped at the store and found a nice London Broil on sale....I knew immediately I wanted to use an old marinade recipe and stick it in the freezer for when Dane is home. But when I got home I realized I didn't have a key ingredient: BEER.

How can I be out of beer? I don't drink the stuff, just use it for cooking.

And, of course, it's raining. I'm hoping it stops long enough for me to get on my golf cart and make it to the store and back before it dumps buckets again.....

Oh, here's the recipe in case I haven't posted it before. It's great on the grill when the marmalade caramalizes on the meat.

Beef Marinade
(Ann’s Recipe)

1 can beer (less 2 swallows)
1/8 t. garlic salt
1 t. ground ginger
1 T. dry mustard
3 T. soy sauce
2 T. sugar
4 T. orange marmalade

Mix all ingredients and pour over Flank Steak or London Broil in a zip top bag.

Marinade and turn a few times, up to 24 hours OR freeze with the marinade on the beef.

Tonight...Tina's wish for supper....

Fillet Mignon grilled, and pocket potatoes in foil with onions.

And, would you believe, The fussy uncle won't eat that. He says he has to chew too much.
So guess what?.....He gets a hot dog.

Ah, yes...the traditional "TUBE STEAK".

That should be easy for you.

Grilled steak with the packet potatoes sounds great. Do you have any vegetables you could grill, too? Slabs of zucchini is really good. Or grilled asparagus.

No Beth. Steam fresh frozen or canned is all we have, but I do have three ears of corn.
Zucchini is the "Z" word I do not want to mention in this house right now.
We are all Z'd Out for now. Those Zucchini are coming from all over. It's like the movie...(" Attack of the Zucchini's)!"

Pretty soon, it will be "Attack of The Tomatoes!"

Ohhh, a nice creamed corn would be good with that meal. Cut just the tiny-est bit off the corn kernels and then cut the rest of the corn off the cobs. That way you get more of a creamy corn. Be sure to scrape the milk off the cob, too. Heat slowly with some butter, s&p, a teeny bit of sugar and some hot pepper, like a cayenne or aleppo pepper ~ just the smallest amount. Add about 2 tsp. of flour and stir it in so it cooks and looses the 'raw' flour taste ~ then finish with just a bit of half & half or cream (milk works, too).

Good stuff.....and a little bit different.

Sounds good. We always ate creamed corn as kids. Back then, it was, how shall I say?...I guess Corny. LOL... Now it is more cream than corn; so We add a Ccan of regular corn to the creamed. Idea

I didn't know what to fix for my supper. I knew it was going to be a chicken cutlet but I didn't have a clue what I'd end up with.

I saw a couple zucchini and decided to do a sort of tian like Barb makes ~ only I used just a yellow & green zucchini & some onion and topped it off with some grated parmesan when the vegetables were cooked.

The chicken cutlet got browned and then topped with just a romaine salad of sorts ~ dressed with my 'faux' Applebee's Oriental dressing and some Chinese rice noodles.
